Abou-Samra Family Scholarship



Dr. Moustapha Abou-Samra and his wife Joan Abou-Samra have been involved with CSUCI since its inception, and are founding President's Circle donors. In 2009, Dr. and Mrs. Abou-Samra established the Abou-Samra Family Endowed Scholarship to support nursing students.





Alumni and Friends Association Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 2014 from over a thousand gifts from CSUCI graduates desiring to support future Dolphins.





Amgen Biotech Scholarship



Thanks to the generous support of Amgen, this endowed scholarship was established in 2008 to support students?with financial need who are currently enrolled in the Master of Science Biotechnology & Bioinformatics program at CSUCI.





Barbara A. Johnson Engineering Scholarship



Barbara Johnson established this endowed scholarship in 2020 to support engineering students at CSUCI. Preference is given to students who graduated from a local high school or transferred from a community college in Ventura County with high achieving merit.





Barbara Meister Teaching Scholarship



Barbara Meister, a retired educator, established the Barbara Meister Endowed Teaching Scholarship in 2011 to support students in our School of Education. Preference is given to students with financial need and high achieving merit.





Barbara Stirzel Camarillo Women's Club Scholarship



To commemorate the contributions and legacy of long-time community member and philanthropist, Barbara Stirzel, the Camarillo Women's Club created this endowed scholarship in 2010 in her honor for students who are residents of Camarillo.





Barbara Thorpe Nursing Scholarship



Retired CI Nursing Professor and former Associate Academic Vice President at CSUCI, Barbara Thorpe-Cartee, created this endowed scholarship to support transfer students, with a preference given to Nursing or Health Science majors.





Bernard & Barbara Bobitch Scholarship



Established with a generous, initial gift in 1999, the Bernard & Barbara Bobitch endowed scholarship was formed to suport stuidents seeking degrees in the health fields with a preference given to high academic achievement.





bkm Office Environments Scholarship



bkm Office Environments is a woman-owned and family-run business dedicated to curating dynamic workspaces.Close partners with CSUCI, this scholarship was established to support students from all walks of life through their academic journey.





Bracero Scholarship



This scholarship was established by two faculty and staff members at CSUCI in 2011, to recognize the history of Bracero workers and their families and celebrate Latinx culture, spirit, and achievement. Bruno Pozzi Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was created in memory of Bruno Pozzi, a Florence, Italy native who spent nearly 50 years living and working in Ventura County. Mr. Pozzi made significant financial contributions and introduced impactful organizational innovations both in his community and on campus.Preference for this scholarship will be given to applicants who are double-majors.





California Resources Corporation President's Scholarship



California Resources Corporation is an independent energy mangagement company, committed to environmental stewardship while safely providing local, responsibly-produced energy. This endowed scholarship is awarded to a high achieving first-time, full-time freshman.





California Strawberry Festival Scholarship



The California Strawberry Festival is held each year in Ventura County to celebrate local agriculture and unite the community through festive events and delicious food. Established in 2001, this endowed scholarship honors the hard work of students and their family members who have contributed their time in the strawberry fields.





CalVet Scholarship



The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) is dedicated to supporting California’s veterans and their families. With nearly 1.6 million veterans residing in the state, CalVet works to ensure that veterans from all eras, along with their families, receive the state and federal benefits and services they have rightfully earned through their honorable military service. This endowed scholarship, established in 2016, was created to provide financial assistance for student veterans at CSUCI, covering educational expenses not funded by the Veterans Administration (VA).





Carnegie Art Scholarship



The mission of Carnegie Art Cornerstones (CAC) is to promote creativity, learning, and growth in the careers of local, emerging artists, and to inspire passion and appreciation for the arts and culture in Oxnard and Southern California. Established in 2020, this endowed scholarship supports students majoring in Art with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.





Caroline Lescher Memorial Scholarship



This scholarship was created to honor the life and achievements of Caroline Lescher, who was deeply involved in numerous local initiatives and organizations throughout Camarillo during her lifetime. This scholarship is awarded to transfer students majoring in sciences.





Carolyn & Harry Lundgren Angel Scholarship



Established in 2004 during the founding of CSU Channel Islands with an initial gift and later supported through an endowment, the Carolyn and Harry Lundgren Angel Endowed Scholarship reflects the Lundgrens' lasting commitment to supporting CSUCI students.





Cause and Tracy S. Hanna Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 2017 to honor the legacy of the late Cause Hanna, founding director of CSUCI's Santa Rosa Island Research Station. Managed by the department, the scholarship supports student(s) conducting capstone research on Santa Rosa Island or the Southern California coast. Preference is given to students majoring in Environmental Science and Resource Management, Biology, or Anthropology. The award recognizes students' achievements and dedication to research, while encouraging their continued academic pursuits. Channel My Future Scholarship



Established in 2022 by the Jeff T. Green Family Foundation, this scholarship reflects Jeff Green’s strong commitment to expanding access to higher education and creating opportunities for students who face financial and systemic barriers. As a passionate advocate for educational equity and a firm believer in the transformative power of a college degree, Jeff Green has focused his philanthropic efforts on supporting first-generation college students- those who are forging a new path for their families. This scholarship is specifically designed for first-time, first-year students with financial need that have a GPA between 2.5 and 3.49. Citizens for Youth in Ventura County Scholarship



Established in 2009, this endowed scholarship is available to students who are graduates of a Ventura County High School.





City of Camarillo Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 2006 by a generous gift from the City of Camarillo, as mandated by the City Council, for students who are graduates from Adolfo Camarillo High School or Rancho Campana High School, with preference given to high-achieving students.





Crankstart Foundation Transfer Student Scholarship



Crankstart is a San Francisco-based family foundation devoted to providing wider access to better education, This scholarship is available to students transferring from CA community colleges and with financial need.





Crest-Vest Corporation Scholarship



This scholarship will not be active in 2026.





Daniel Lee Memorial Scholarship



Created in memory of Daniel Lee, a beloved Sociology Professor at Cal State Channel Islands, this endowed scholarship supports undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference is given to students who have plans to study abroad or engage in international experiences.





Delta Kappa Gamma Society Scholarship



Delta Kappa Gamma Society is an international organization with chapters all over the globe. Their mission is to promote the professional and personal growth of women educators, as well as excellence in education. This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the School of Education.





Dennis Gregory Memorial Mechatronics Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was created by friends and family in memory of the late Dennis Gregory, honoring his achievement as the first in his generation to earn a college degree. It is awarded to students majoring in Mechatronics Engineering who demonstrate financial need.





Dolpin Promise Scholarship



The Dolphin Promise Scholarship is part of CSUCI’s broader effort to support high-achieving students and reduce financial barriers to higher education. Available to first-time, full-time students and transfer students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.





Dorothy L. Huston Nursing Scholarship



As one of the founding members of the Altrusa Oxnard chapter, Dorothy L. Huston also dedicated many years to working as a nurse in Oxnard. This endowed scholarship honors her legacy by removing financial barriers and encouraging local students to pursue a career in either nursing or health sciences.





Dr. & Mrs. John Peter Pearson Nursing Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 2011 by a longtime Oxnard physician and his family to support students pursuing a degree in nursing.





Dr. Richard Grossman Nursing Scholarship



The Dr. Richard Grossman Community Foundation established this endowed scholarship to remove barriers to education for the next generation of nurses. Dr. Grossman, who was a pioneer in treating burn victims and known internationally for his work in the comprehensive treatment of burn wounds, noted his work would not be possible without the efforts of the compassionate and brilliant nurses he worked with throughout his career.





Dr. Stephen R. Lefevre Memorial Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in memory of the late Dr. Stephen R. Lefevre, a founding member of Cal State Channel Islands. As a Political Science professor, Dr. Lefevre was passionate about teaching and played a key role in supporting many of the University’s early programs and initiatives. Preference is given to junior or senior students majoring in Political Science.





Edison International STEM Scholarship



Edison International's vision is to lead the transformation of the electric power industry toward a clean energy future. One of their initiatives is partnering with local nonprofits, supporting communities in their service area that have programs focused on civic engagement, education, the environment, and public safety & emergency preparedness. Edison has been funding scholarships for CSUCI for nearly 15 years focused on supporting students studying science, technology, engineering, and math.





Eugene D. & Nancy S. Sweetland Scholarship



Established in 2009 by the family of Eugene and Nancy Sweetland, this endowed scholarship honors their enduring legacy of community service and generosity. It continues to uphold their commitment to the CSUCI campus community by supporting and inspiring future generations of Dolphins.





Fran Pavley DWCCV Scholarship



The Democratic Women's Council of the Conejo Valley is dedicated to advancing the principles of the Democratic Party through public policy advocacy, political issue analysis, education, and fundraising. This scholarship was established in honor of Fran Pavley, a distinguished legislator and influential leader from the Ventura County region, to support students majoring in Environmental Science & Resource Management or Biology. It is part of a broader initiative to promote responsible climate policies.





Gillan Family Scholarship



The Gillan Family Scholarship supports students majoring in science or math with preference given to financial need.





Global Citizenship Scholarship



Established in 2025 by the Jeff T. Green Family Foundation, this scholarship recognizes and rewards academic excellence among high-achieving first-generation college students. Created to support students who have demonstrated strong academic performance despite financial and systemic challenges, the scholarship is intended for first-time, first-year students who are committed to making the most of their educational journey at CSUCI. By investing in students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, the Jeff T. Green Family Foundation affirms its belief in the power of education to change lives and uplift communities. Hammer Family Scholarship



Established in 2004 by John and Glenda Hammer, respected local leaders and philanthropists in the Ventura County community, this endowed scholarship reflects their deep commitment to education and regional development. The scholarship is designed to support students who are either enrolled in the School of Education or pursuing degrees in Mechatronics Engineering or Mathematics.





Harper Family Scholarship



Dr. Clinton Harper, former CSUCI Professor of Physics, and his wife are lifelong educators dedicated to giving back to the community. Grateful for the opportunities and experiences that higher education has afforded them, the Harper family established this scholarship to help recipients maximize the benefits of their own educational journeys. Preference will be given to students majoring in STEM or Education fields, as well as those transferring from Moorpark College.





Harry O. & Vivian K. Bostwick Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 1997 through a planned gift from the Bostwick family, life long residents of Ventura County. This scholarship is awarded to students majoring in Business, Communication, Political Science, Chicano Studies, Spanish, History, with preference given to high academic achievement.





Henry L. "Hank" Lacayo Memorial Scholarship



This scholarship was established in 2017 and later endowed to honor the life and enduring legacy of Henry 'Hank' Lacayo. Hank served as an advisor to multiple U.S. Presidents, including Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, and Clinton, and played a key role in the electoral campaigns of numerous U.S. Senators, Representatives, governors, and state legislators. He witnessed history firsthand, standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic 'I Have a Dream' speech. Hank also forged connections between influential labor leaders, such as former UAW President Walter Reuther and his friend César Chávez, later marching alongside Chávez in Delano to advocate for farm workers’ rights. This scholarship supports students majoring in Political Science, Communications, Chicano Studies, Spanish, History, or those enrolled in the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics. Preference is given to high academic achievement.





Jack and Jeanne Cramer Memorial Scholarship

James C. Basile Scholarship



Established in 2002 through the estate of James C. Basile, a longtime resident of Simi Valley, this endowed scholarship is awarded to graduates of a public high school in Simi Valley Moorpark High School (Simi Valley High School, Royal High School, Santa Susana High School, Apollo High School, Moorpark High School, The High School at Moorpark College) and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students who are physically or visually impaired or who have other disabilities.





Jane Rush Memorial Scholarship



Jane Rush was a pioneering supporter of higher education, holding a bachelor's degree in English and a master's degree in education. Her career included teaching elementary school and later working as a major gifts fundraiser at California State University San Marcos. As the wife of Dr. Richard R. Rush, the Founding President of California State University Channel Islands, Jane's commitment to her role as 'First Lady' was highly valued. To honor her legacy, Dr. Rush and many others contributed to establish an endowed scholarship to celebrate the impact Jane had here at CSUCI and to support students pursuing a degree in Education.





Jonathan & Liane Schweid Memorial Scholarship



John and Sheila Suarez are dedicated supporters of CSUCI, serving as members of the President’s Circle and founding members of the Legacy Society. John has also contributed his time and expertise as a guest lecturer in the School of Education. This scholarship was established in loving memory of Sheila’s two children, Jonathan and Liane Schweid, whose lives were tragically cut short at a young age. The Suarez family, with a proud legacy spanning three generations of educators, is deeply committed to breaking down barriers to education and uplifting students from historically underrepresented backgrounds. Preference for this scholarship will be given to students with financial need majoring in Education, Biology, Sociology, Environmental Science & Resource Management, or Health Science.





Julie Kissel Divekar Memorial Scholarship



This scholarship was established in memory of Julie Kissel Divekar, a former Cal State Channel Islands student. Preference will be given to Nursing majors with demonstrated financial need.





Lillian and Edward Hawthorne Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established to honor the legacy and many accomplishments of Lillian and Dr. Edward Hawthorne. Lillian earned a second master’s degree in social work in her 40s, then became assistant dean at USC, later publishing books and helping launch a graduate program in Ventura County. Edward, who emigrated from Poland at 16, earned a PhD in electrical engineering, became a tenured professor at the University of Pennsylvania, and led lunar lander missions at Hughes Aircraft. After retiring, they co-founded Temple Ner Ami in Camarillo and were founding members of the Ventura County Jewish Federation. Preference will be given to students who are majoring in Mechatronics Engineering.





Lytle Family Art Scholarship



Established in 2011 by former CSUCI Art Professor Larry Lytle and his wife Jeanie, this endowed scholarship. Administered by the Art program, the scholarship is awarded to incoming seniors majoring in Art in recognition of their artistic accomplishments, as demonstrated through their portfolio work. Students will be asked to submit a PDF or JPEG file of 3-5 examples of your work.





M & M Zarate Enterprises Scholarship



This scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the legacy of M & M Zarate to support local students in the Oxnard community. Preference is given to students studying nursing and health sciences,





Margaret E. Garlock Memorial Scholarship



In honor of Margaret E. Garlock, a lifelong Oxnard resident who was committed to giving back to her community, this endowed scholarship was established to provide financial support to students pursing a degree in nursing.





Margaret Wrinkle Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established in 2011 through a generous estate gift from Margaret Wrinkle, a dedicated public health nurse and longtime resident of Camarillo. Throughout her life, Margaret was committed to serving her community and improving the lives of others through education and healthcare. Her legacy of compassion and service lives on through this scholarship, which supports students in their pursuit of higher education and a meaningful career.





Marie Wesely Nursing Scholarship



This endowed scholarship was established by the Wesely family, who through their philanthropic work have made many contributions to the region of Ventura County. Preference will be given to high-achieving students majoring in Nursing.





Martin V. Smith School of Buiness & Economics Scholarship



Thanks to a generous gift from the Smith Family Foundation, the MVS Scholars program The Martin V. Smith Scholars is a scholarship program provides merit-based scholarships which can be used for any educational expenses including tuition and fees. Open to new, incoming students who live/attend school in Ventura County and plan to study Business or Economics at CSU Channel Islands. Students must have a 3.75 GPA and be enrolled in the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics.





Mary Darakjy Memorial Scholarship



This scholarship was established to honor the memory of local philanthropist, Mary Darakjy.





Mary Postal Memorial Scholarship



Mary Postal was a passionate special education teacher of 13 years at the Pleasant Valley School District in Camarillo. As a teacher, she was dedicated to the success of her students, always encouraging them to reach their full potential. She passionately advocated for students whose voices may not otherwise have been heard. Mary's education at CSUCI gave her the tools she needed to make an impact as an educator. This endowed scholarship was established by her family to ensure her work will continue by supporting students pursuing a major in Education.





Nursing Scholarships



This scholarship supports students pursuing a nursing degree and is funded by various donors.





OAVC Dorothy & Al Stacey Scholarship



Thanks to a generous gift from Dorothy & Al Stacey, Outreach Alliance of Ventura County (formerly Assistance League of Ventura County) established this scholarship to recognize high achieving students pursing STEM majors.





Osher Transfer Student Scholarship



The Bernard Osher Foundation, headquartered in San Francisco, was started in 1977 by Bernard Osher, a respected businessman and community leader. The Foundation seeks to improve quality of life through support for higher education and the arts. This endowed scholarship is awarded to students who are transferring or have transferred from a California Community College with demonstrate financial need.





Outreach Alliance of Ventura County Community Scholarship



Outreach Alliance of Ventura County's (formerly Assistance League of Ventura County) mission is to enrich the lives of children and adults in Ventura County. This auto-renewable scholarship is awarded to first-time, full-time students who are graduates from a high school within Ventura County.





Oxnard Ambassadors Scholarship



The Oxnard Ambassadors were established in 1968 as a group of business owners and members of pioneer families who were considered the "movers and shakers" of the Oxnard community. As a way to encourage a new generation of entrepreneurs in Oxnard and locally, this endowed scholarship was established to support students enrolled in the Martin V. Smith School of Business & Economics.





Pat and Drew West Scholarship



Retired technology and software executive, Drew West and his wife Pat established this scholarship in 2018 as part of their mission to remove barriers to post-secondary education for CSUCI students and to provide them with new opportunities they may otherwise not have access to.





Peer Mentor Ambassador Scholarship



This scholarship is awarded to students who are participating as peer mentor ambassadors.





Perez Family Scholarship



Former professor in Liberal Arts and School of Education, Rafael Perez, along with his wife Berta established this scholarship to assist students with their cost of tuition and also remove barriers to higher education. For this scholarship, preference will be given to students who are either majoring in Education, one of the Sciences, or Business. Preference will also be given to students who are first-generation college students.





Poe Family Scholarship



Former technology CEO, John Poe, created this endowed scholarship as a way to uplift students majoring in the Sciences and also remove financial barriers as they progress through college.





Police Chief Scholarship



Established by the campus's own Police Department, this scholarship was established to encourage students to pursue a career in public service.





President's Scholars



The CSUCI President’s Scholars Program awards high-achieving students a prestigious four-year, renewable scholarship covering full tuition and fees. Scholars engage in personalized goal setting, professional development, and mentoring- all designed to support their growth and success. Richard R. Rush Presidential Scholarship



As the first President of Cal State Channel Islands and a founding member, Dr. Richard R. Rush was there from the very beginning. Dr. Rush was pivotal in the growth of CI by personally overseeing the creation of the various programs here at the University, as well as the development of campus infrastructure like road improvements and land aquisition. To honor his many accomplishments and legacy, this scholarship was established to recognize students with outstanding academic achievement.





Ronald Mack Adams Scholarship



Established by Dr. Jeanne Adams, in memory of her late husband, Dr. Ronald Mack Adams. Both Ronald and Jeanne have been lifelong educators and avocates for CSUCI. This endowed scholarship is geared specifically towards college juniors and seniors entering one of the School of Education's Teaching Credential programs.





Ruth O'Rourke Scholarship



Ruth O'Rourke created this endowed scholarship with a gift left in her estate.





Santa Barbara Cottage Health Foundation Nursing Scholarship

Scott Family Scholarship



As a highly successful enterprise owner and local businessman, Gerald Scott, alongside his wife, Dorothy, established this endowed scholarship in 2001. Having been unable to attend college themselves, the Scott Family wanted to make the opportunity available to students in their region.





Student Scholarships








Tiplady Burgess EOP Scholarship



Thousand Oaks philanthropist Margaret Tiplady Burgess, was born in England and was a nurse during WWII, coming to the United States in the 1950s. In addition having a courtyard named in her honor on campus, Ms. Burgess created the Tiplady Burgess EOP Endowed Scholarship, which supports students enrolled in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP).





Tiplady Burgess Nursing Scholarship



Thousand Oaks philanthropist Margaret Tiplady Burgess,Thousand Oaks philanthropist Margaret Tiplady Burgess, was born in England and was a nurse during WWII, coming to the United States in the 1950s. In addition having a courtyard named in her honor on campus, Ms. Burgess created the Tiplady Burgess Endowed Scholarship, which supports a nursing student in their studies.





Wan Legacy Scholarship



To honor the legacy of their parents, the Wan Family Legacy Endowed scholarship was established in 2023 to support undergraduate and graduate students residing in Ventura County. Preference given to students majoring in a health sciences-related major such as Nursing, Health Sciences, Biology, or Psychology.





Weis Family Endowed Scholarship



Dr. Charles Weis has served as CSUCI's Program Chair and Associate Professor of Educational Leadership, as well as several other roles at CSUCI, including Educational Leadership Coordinator, Co-Director of the CODEL Doctoral Program, and Interim Dean of the School of Education. In 2023, Dr. Weis established the Weis Family Endowed Scholarship to support graduate students?enrolled in the Master of Arts in Education or Doctorate in Educational Leadership programs within the School of Education. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the MA Educational Leadership Specialization with a P-12 concentration or Ed.D. program.





West Coast Ear Nose & Throat Nursing Scholarship



Established by a Ventura County ENT physician and his family, the West Coast Ear, Nose & Throat Nursing Endowed scholarship supports nursing students in their academic journey at CSUCI.





Wollons Family Scholarship



As a former business owner in the aerospace industry, Peter Wollons, alongside his wife, Karen, established this endowed scholarship in 2006 to support CSUCI students with their tuition costs and other related expenses.





Yardi Scholars



The Yardi Scholarship is a groundbreaking program that supports first-generation college students through their entire four-year undergraduate experience. Created with a generous gift from software engineer and founder of Yardi Systems, Anant Yardi, the goal of the Yardi Scholars program is to attract high-achieving students to pursue, persist, and graduate within four years. Preference to students interested in studying business.





Zaruka Family Scholarship



The Zaruka family has a long history of community support in Ventura County and started this scholarship to support our students enrolled in the Martin V. Smith School of Business and Economics.
